Tree Crashes Into Ridgewood Home

No one was injured in the Sunday incident.

A tree toppled through the roof of an Oak Street residence Sunday morning, causing "extensive" damage, officials said.

The tree fell shortly before noon while the family was in the home, but there were no injuries, according to Lt. Steve Maffei of the Ridgewood Fire Department.

"It must have been pretty scary for them," Maffei said.

Most of the damage was done to the home's master bedroom.

Maffei said it wasn't immediately clear what caused the tree to fall, since it was not particularly windy at the time. The tree may have been damaged in a previous storm, he said.

A building inspector was on the scene but had not yet determined early Sunday afternoon if the family would be able to return to the house before repairs were made.
