Two Residents Charged With Underage Alcohol Possession

Police blotter Nov. 1—Nov. 11.

Two village males were arrested Nov. 11 on underaged drinking charges.

A 19-year-old, of Kenilworth Road, and an 18-year-old, of Southern Parkway were charged with underage possession of alcohol and released pending an appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

Police responded to a Hillcrest Road residence on a report of a suspicious person wearing a black hood on the property. Officers found the two visibly intoxicated wearing hooded sweatshirts sitting on the curb. They were found to be in possession of alcohol and were arrested.

  • Police responded to a John Street residence on an unconscious juvenile Nov. 1. While at the scene Ptl. Patrick Elwood discovered that the juvenile was in possession of a white powder substance believed to be heroin and a hypodermic needle. The juvenile was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. A hearing in family court in Hackensack is pending.
  • Patrol responded to the Henrietta Court area Nov. 2 to assist Washington Township Police on a reported burglary. Lt. David McDermott found evidence that a vehicle at 15 Henrietta Court had been entered. Washington Township had requested a Bergen County K-9 unit to assist in the search for the actors. Paramus Police found a male later identified as a 55-year-old man from Brooklyn, N.Y. on Route 17 near the Exxon Station. The accused was taken into custody by Washington Township Police and later charged with burglary and theft—for the incident in Ridgewood—and burglary and theft in Washington Township. The accused was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.
  • A village landscape company reported that his trailer that was parked behind a Broad Street business was entered and landscape equipment was taken Nov. 3. A second burglary was reported at the same location to another company’s trailer with nothing taken. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • Two vehicles parked at the Red Cross building on Godwin Avenue were reported to have been burglarized Nov. 3. An iPod is the only item reported taken. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • Patrol responded to a report of a shoplifter at Rite Aid Pharmacy on East Ridgewood Avenue Nov. 4. A juvenile had been observed putting a can of Monster Energy Drink in his backpack and attempt to leave the store. A complaint was signed, and the juvenile was released pending a future appearance in Family Court in Hackensack.
  • A West End resident reported Nov. 5 that someone had entered a vehicle that was parked at the owner's home. The victim found that a laptop and briefcase were missing. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A Midland Park resident reported that her vehicle was parked on Franklin Avenue and someone had spray painted the its side Nov. 6. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
