Advertisements Likely Coming to Ridgewood Train Station

Would you support a change to the iconic 'Welcome to Ridgewood' mural at the station underpass?

The Ridgewood Village Council is expected to approve a resolution Wednesday that will allow a private firm to hoist up more than 30 advertising panels all around the historic Ridgewood Train Station.

Titan Advertising, which creates outdoor ad spaces for NJ Transit and other agencies throughout the country, was the lone bidder to construct and maintain the panels at the pedestrian underpass and in the station building.

Thirty-two panels are set aside for commercial advertising while two are reserved for village use, Village Manager Ken Gabbert said. Should the town be interested in using additional advertisements for local businesses, its share of revenue would draw down.

Ridgewood could make $50,000 or more per year under the agreement, which will last three years. Titan in the past has said it expects to change ads several times a year and will perform whatever maintenance is required.

The village council will vote on the resolution at its 8 p.m. public meeting on Wednesday.
