U.S. Army Brigadier General Kristin Knapp French had quite a homecoming.

Following a nine-month deployment, she returned to her hometown of Glen Rock bearing gifts –– flags flown over Afghanistan raised high outside Borough Hall. The flags were presented along with the local VFW and American Legion.

Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan presented Knapp French with a commendation and a Bergen County Military service medal. She is the first female commander in Afghanistan.

Knapp served as lead on coordinating supplies and logistics in Afghanistan.
