Engineer to Design Plans for Shared Garage

New municipal facility in Glen Rock would be shared by Ridgewood and Glen Rock.

The village engineer is creating plans on a prospective new municipal garage facility that could serve both Ridgewood and Glen Rock, Ridgewood Deputy Mayor Albert Pucciarelli said Wednesday.

According to Pucciarelli, Village Engineer Chris Rutishauser will be drafting early plans to see if a facility can meet the needs of both towns.

Officials in Ridgewood have argued the current Chestnut Street facility is inadequate. The current plan involves Ridgewood selling the Chestnut Street lot to a private developer and using that revenue to fund a new garage at the village-owned Water Pollution Control site on Prospect Street in Glen Rock.

The 90,000 square foot lot could unquestionably fit a garage to service one town, but revisions will likely need to be made to design a facility large enough to accommodate greater usage, Pucciarelli has said.
