Village crews began clearing leaves from Ridgewood streets this week, and officials are urging residents to take a few steps to help the effort along.
Collection will cycle through four coverage areas on a varying schedule until mid-December. During this time, residents are asked to put leaves onto the street no more than seven days before the next scheduled pickup in their neighborhood.
Leaves should be piled up at least ten feet from the nearest storm drain, and trash cans placed on property and not within the street. When possible, residents are also asked to avoid parking in the street during morning collections.
Residents who don't comply with some of the provisions face possible fines.
