Ridgewood Planning Board Member Suriano Resigns

Costantino Suriano cited professional obligations.

At a critical juncture, one of the most active members of the Ridgewood Planning Board will have to be replaced following his resignation.

Member Costantino Suriano has resigned his post, board chairman Charles Nalbantian said at Tuesday's planning board meeting.

Suriano cited professional reasons for his resignation, Nalbantanian said. Suriano, an attorney, travels extensively for work. He was appointed to the board in July of 2010.

First alternate Wendy Dockray will take Suriano's vacated seat while Jane Shinozuka will move up from Alternate 2, Mayor Paul Aronsohn said.

The board is considering amending the Master Plan to allow for new zoning that would potentially welcome four new housing developments in the village downtown.

Planning board members would later hear site plan applications for the multi-family developments should the council agree to a change to the Master Plan.

The council will appoint a new member on the board, though the timeline has not yet been outlined.
