Ridgewood Residents Can Report Potholes Using Village's New App

Village launched the mobile application Monday.

Ridgewood has gone high tech in its response to a very snowy winter.

Monday, the town launched the “Ridgewood Request Service,” a mobile App designed to allow residents to report new potholes directly to the village.

According to Ridgewood’s website, locals need to register to use the App, and then can send in the address of the pothole, a picture, and a description of it.

“The more information the better,” the entry screen to the App says.

“An estimate on the size of the pothole (examples: "12 inches irregular, about 6" deep"; "Multiple large potholes in a cluster covering a 10 foot section of the road on the northbound lane") and any other pertinent information would be helpful.”

According to a NorthJersey.com report on the App, Interim Village Manager Heather Mailander said the snow inspired village employees to develop the App.

“We wanted to come up with an easier way for people to report potholes, especially since we have so many of them due to the weather,” she said in the NorthJersey.com report.

“This will be an easier way to report them.”

Though now only able to take in pothole requests, the report says officials plan to expand it to other types of issue reporting if it is successful.

The App can be accessed through the village website
