Ridgewood Water Loses Bid to Take Over Allendale Utility

Allendale chose a large competitor instead.

Ridgewood Water has lost a bid to manage Allendale's water utility, according to a news report.

Allendale accepted United Water's $590,000 bid to manage the borough's water system and the five-year deal was approved by the state, according to northjersey.com. Ridgewood Water submitted a bid at $970,000, the second highest bid, the report noted.

Ridgewood Water, which serves about 55,000 customers in Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Midland Park and Glen Rock, has expressed interest in managing other water utilities in recent years. It considered submitting a bid in 2011 to take over Ramsey's utility but ultimately reasoned against vying for a contract.
