Ridgewood Schools Rename Spaces After Retiring Teachers

Spaces in the Willard and Orchard schools now have new names.

The Ridgewood School District has recently decided to honor retiring educators by making their names a permanent part of the schools. The district announced the following on its website this month:

  • Superintendent Daniel Fishbein dedicated the Marianne Williams Media Center at Willard School during the school's awards ceremony. Williams is retiring as Principal of Willard School.
  • Retiring Orchard School Art Teacher Judy Malhotra was surprised by the school community with the naming of the school's Community Art Garden in her honor. Judy is responsible for the conception, inspiration and development of the Orchard School’s Community Art Garden, as well as the collaboration with Music Teacher Drew Kreismer on the garden’s newest addition, a musical sculpture  inspired by a piece at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. The outdoor musical sculpture was unveiled with the performance by Ridgewood High School student musicians, who wrote a composition for this instrument and occasion.
Both educators are retiring this year.
