Sandy Makeup Days Still Scheduled for April in Glen Rock

As it stands, students are going to school on April 10-12 in the borough.

Until told otherwise, the Glen Rock school board is still planning on making up lost Hurricane Sandy days during the April break, school board president Rona McNabola told Patch last week.

Schools were closed for eight days in late October and November due to the storm. The district lost eight instructional days and must still make up three days to fulfill state requirements.

In January the board passed its 2012-2013 school calendar, which calls for days to be made up from the April break beginning Friday, April 12 and moving backward.

"It has been many years since we have had to follow through on this but that is why we put it out there when we approve the calendar," McNabola said. "So unless the Superintendent makes an alternate recommendation which the board approves, that's where we are."

Further closures due to weather would chip away at Tuesday and Monday of that week in April, according to the calendar.
