Ridgewood Girls Lax Title Hopes Come to an End

Girls downed by Chatham 11-10 at the Tournament of Champions semifinal on Tuesday.

A late, dramatic comeback wasn't enough to propel the girls lacrosse team to a third straight Tournament of Champions game.

According to nj.com, the girls stormed back from a seven-goal deficit against #3 seeded Chatham but ultimately fell 11-10 at Monmouth University on Tuesday.

Ridgewood, the second seed, squared the score at 10 before Chatham's Kate Murphy fired the game winner with just over two minutes to go, nj.com reported.

The Maroons were the state's top squad in 2010 and with a target on their backs, went undefeated in 2011 en route to another title.

Although they weren't able to hoist an unprecedented third straight Tournament of Champions title, Ridgewood remains one of the state's most storied programs and should be poised to reload again in 2012-2013.
