Young Ridgewood Golfer Besting Older Competitors on the Links

John Driscoll III, age 12, has qualified for a number of tournaments this year.

A Ridgewood athlete is tearing up the golf course, showing up much older competitors in the process.

Fresh off an appearance in the New Jersey Boys Golf Championship in July, John Driscoll III, 12, recently qualified for two big-time tournaments.

He'll be the youngest competitor at the upcoming MGA/MetLife Boys Championship in Bedford, NY on Aug. 15, 16. Most of the competitors are two or three years older.

Driscoll, who is entering seventh-grade at G.W. Middle School, is the 50th ranked player in the US for the graduating class of 2019.
