Firefighter, Iraq Vet Matt Bombace Named VFW Post Commander

Bombace takes over for Stanley Kober, who led VFW Post 192 for eight years.

A decorated Marine veteran who spends his days fighting fires in Ridgewood was recently installed as the new post commander of Washington Elm VFW Post 192.

Matt Bombace takes over for Stanley Kober, who led the VFW for eight years. He was installed as the new post commander on July 10.

Bombace served two tours in Iraq as a Marine and is a lifelong resident of Ridgewood.

“I wish the absolute Best to Post Commander Matt Bombace and am certain that he will provide the leadership, dedication, and vitality needed to bring the Post to new and greater heights as the Post moves into its 75th year starting on September 23, 2014 and into its efforts for constructing a new Post Home that is long overdue our veterans,”  Kober said in a press release.
